We don't collect your Secret Santa data
There are no accounts, no sign-up forms and no email collection. The names, wishlists, rules and draw results you enter are processed entirely in your browser. This website is a set of static files with no server-side code and no database.
Where your event is stored
Your event is saved in your browser's local storage, so you can close the tab and come back later. It never leaves your device unless you choose to download a backup file. Clearing your browser data, or clicking “New event,” deletes it.
How private links work
Each participant's match is encoded inside their link, after the # symbol. Browsers never send this part of a link to any server, so the match is only decoded on the device that opens it. The data is scrambled so names aren't readable at a glance, but it isn't strongly encrypted, so treat each link like a sealed envelope and send it only to its owner.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit and which pages are useful. It records things like the pages you view, your approximate region, your device type and how you arrived at the site, and it uses cookies to do so. It never receives the names, wishlists, rules or matches you enter. When you open a private reveal link, the secret part after the # is removed before the page visit is reported. Third parties
When you choose to share a link via WhatsApp or your phone's share menu, that app's own privacy policy applies to the message you send. Wishlist links open the external site the participant provided.
